SonarSource Acquires RIPS Technologies to Enhance Code Security

SonarSource, a leader in code quality and security solutions, has recently expanded its capabilities by acquiring RIPS Technologies, a company known for its expertise in code security testing. This strategic move aims to bolster SonarSource's offerings in the realm of software security.

Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, SonarSource provides a range of open-source and commercial code analyzers that cater to 27 different programming languages. These tools are essential for developers seeking to identify and rectify coding issues within their software projects.

RIPS Technologies, established in 2016 in Bochum, Germany, has made a name for itself with its PHP code analyzer. The company also offers tools that automatically identify vulnerabilities in other programming languages, including Java and JavaScript, making it a valuable addition to SonarSource's portfolio.

The acquisition will see the integration of teams from both companies, focusing on the development of Static Application Security Testing (SAST) products. This collaboration is set to enhance the security features available to developers, providing them with more robust tools to safeguard their applications.

SonarSource has emphasized its ongoing commitment to advancing application security by delivering automated feedback on code security during the development process. This proactive approach aims to empower developers to address potential security issues early in the software lifecycle.

Olivier Gaudin, CEO and co-founder of SonarSource, remarked on the acquisition, stating, "The Code Security market today is reminiscent of the Code Quality market a decade ago - niche and fragmented.
